Project SummaryOur client is Australia's largest pharmacy retailer with over 500 stores and worth 6 Billion AUD dollars. The company brands itself as offering discounted prices for pharmaceutical goods. Main objective of the company is to enhance the customers healthcare outcome via the most effective and efficient means, resulting in great savings to the end user. Blackline project was implemented for our retail client to replace the existing financial data exchange and data matching rule engine mechanism between internal systems and NAB bank with a faster and streamlines ecosystem using Blackline (SaaS application) matching rules engine.
Executive SummaryAs part of Financial transaction management, there was a requirement to streamline the month end process to enable distribution of the Board Report within 2 weeks post end of the month (which was 6+ weeks). From the retail accounting perspective, a key roadblock to achieve the two-week goal was highly manual and resource intensive bank reconciliation process. The implementation of an enabling technology to automate and control the process is targeted to be completed at earliest.
Client was in need to a robust centralized automated platform with capabilities of guaranteed message delivery, parallel processing and high volume handling secure communication to take care of critical financial data flow between various end systems like On-premise database (Microsoft SQL Server), external SaaS application Blackline having two connectivity options (RESTful APIs and SFTP), etc.
RBT's subject matter experts worked closely with stakeholders and understood the business needs of the application. RBT team designed the modules with high usability and to the satisfaction of the end users. This increased the business margins.

Time: Each accountant/team leader spends on average 4 full days completing the bank reconciliations (over a 2-week period)
Highly critical data including POS Sales, AX Ledger, Bank Statements, etc., needs to be transferred among various end systems, thereby introducing multiple integration touch points.
A reliable integration middleware which can take care of streamlined, secure and performance effective data transfer between mentioned end systems with zero data loss, bulk processing capability and robust error handling was the need of the hour.
SolutionAll the below mentioned critical integrations were successfully implemented by RBT using Boomi as a middleware. Parallel processing has been implemented using Atom Queue feature in Boomi which resulted in great throughput while handling huge volumes. Robust error handling has been implemented in Boomi to facilitate the ease of production support. Transaction security and guaranteed message delivery was ensured using Boomi solution.
POS Sales and MGR sign off data Integration: Recorded cash data and Electonic Daily Sales Data (POS) are extracted, combined and are stored in MS SQL Server database. Data stored in DB will be collected by Boomi every X minutes using an internal scheduler. Boomi will transform all the picked data accordingly and send it to Blackline Application via API integration after applying various business rules. Once data created in Blackline, matching rules will be applied, and will be visible for finance team to verify all transactions.
.BAI format, copying in Boomi and saving one copy of source .BAI file in MS SQL Server database. Another copy of .BAI file will be posted to Blackline SFTP by Boomi every day using an internal scheduler without interpreting. Once data created in Blackline SFTP, matching rules will be applied, and will be visible for finance team to verify all transactions whether Bank Transactions are matching with AX ledger transaction data.
Quest Payment Settlement Integration: PGP encrypted ABA Quest Payment Settlement files will be retrived from Quest SFTP, decrypted in Boomi using PGP private key and will be posted the decrypted file in CW internal Share Point site by Boomi internal scheduler which runs every 15 minutes.

- Bulk volumes of Transactions and Statements have been processed within record timings using Boomi multithreading options.
- An Effective way of handling various APIs (which could wrong in many ways) was achieved without much effort.
- Provided seamless data monitoring capabilities thereby enabling the customer to track the transactional data without restricting the device choice (computer, mobile, tablet, etc.).
- Going by the successful pilot delivery and the business it brought to the table, the client has considered replacing every legacy integration in the company with Boomi Cloud Integration middleware platform.
